Impact of teenage pregnancy: A case study among the Mucubais before the implementation of Efico in Namibe province

The article aims to analyze the impact of teenage pregnancy among the Mucubals of Bibala in the province of Namibe, before the performance of the efico rite. This study has social, scientific and cultural relevance. Socially, it allows us to understand the challenges faced by adolescents in traditional contexts. Scientifically, it contributes to expanding knowledge about early pregnancy in ethnic communities. Culturally, it values local knowledge and rites of passage, promoting dialogue between tradition and social rights. Thus, it offers subsidies for public policies that are more sensitive to the reality of traditional communities in the Namibe province. The article discusses how becoming pregnant before this rite is a shame in Mucubal society, as well as exploring the challenges faced by adolescents who find themselves in this situation. The study focused on a quantitative approach, with an analytical bias, using as technical procedures, the bibliographic review and the case study. For data collection, a structured form was used, composed of closed and open questions, with a target audience of 32 adolescents and 25 adults. The research addresses cultural, social and family aspects that influence the perception of teenage pregnancy, as well as the psychological and social implications that arise from this phenomenon. Therefore, the research highlights the lack of knowledge about contraception and access to prenatal care as factors that contribute to unwanted pregnancy among adolescents in this social group.
